Friesland Campina

Visualising abstract processes to engage teams.

Challenge

How can we break down silo’s and embrace end-to-end thinking?

The Global Business Digital Services and Solutions department at Royal FrieslandCampina is a continuously evolving department that supports the organisation in it’s financial, legal and other business processes. Royal FrieslandCampina asked Ink Strategy to develop a vision that helps employees understand the bigger picture of their department identity, end-to-end processes, and feel more connected to it’s broader purpose.

Approach

Shaping a future vision for a new department and breaking down silo’d process thinking.

We created a vibrant and engaging approach to design and visualise the department’s future vision, end-to-end processes, and identity. Using co-creation and visual thinking, Ink Strategy facilitated interactive workshops that unlocked creativity and encouraged collaboration. By combining on- and offline sessions, we made space for all voices to be heard, validating storylines and visuals with input from over 100 employees from diverse teams. This iterative approach, rooted in engagement and feedback, resulted in a vision that’s truly owned by the team, loaded with their ideas and aspirations.

Result

Employee’s understanding their contribution to the bigger picture.

The outcome was a unified and inspiring narrative that energized the new department. Together, we shaped a cohesive overarching storyline that management and employees could get behind. Early engagement of participants created a sense of ownership, while iterative workshops shaped the visuals and storylines to incorporate the thoughts and ideas of all stakeholders. The tangible output included a powerful ‘bigger-picture vision’ visual and 4 supporting visuals. This was all supported by a compelling visual slidedeck, bringing the overarching storyline to life and ensuring the department had the tools to communicate its vision with impact and clarity.
